Comfort Visits
+ Urgent Care

Between appointments, things happen. A wire shifts, a bracket comes loose, a spot starts to rub. It doesn’t have to wait and it doesn’t have to stress you out. We offer complimentary comfort visits so you can get relief quickly and keep your treatment moving forward.

When something's poking, broken, or just doesn't feel right, we're here.

Broken brackets, poking wires, and soreness after an adjustment are some of the most common things that come up during orthodontic treatment, and most of them are easier to manage than you might think. Whether you need a quick fix at home, a same-day comfort visit, or just a little reassurance that everything is okay, we’ve got you.

Below you’ll find everything you need to know about handling common orthodontic issues, when to call us, and when something actually needs more immediate attention. We keep time set aside every day for exactly these moments, and your comfort visits are always complimentary at Massey Orthodontics.

At-Home Remedies: Try This First

A lot of common issues can be handled right at home with a little wax and some patience. Here’s what we recommend.

Poking Wire or Sharp Edge

Dry the area with a tissue, then roll a small piece of orthodontic wax between your fingers until it's soft. Press it gently over the sharp spot, and it should smooth things right out.

Loose Bracket On the Wire

Leave it where it is and cover it with wax for comfort. Try not to wiggle it. Just give us a call the next business day and we'll get you taken care of.

Wire Shifted Out of Place

Try using clean tweezers to gently tuck it back into position. Broken wires can be clipped with clean fingernail clippers to make comfortable until next business day.

Soreness and Discomfort

This is completely normal and it won't last. Rinse with warm salt water a few times a day and over-the-counter pain relievers can take the edge off those first couple of days.
